Now that I got your attention The answer is no. I have been on twitter since they started. and have a little over 1200 followers. Twitter is really a mini blog and your twitter has an rss feed. Yes you really can ping your twitter. If you use a short url in your twitter post its a search engine spider stopper. So I recomend you post with your real URL. Even though twitter is a nofollow link I have found that Yahoo will list your url from twitter. So go ping your twiiter and get some traffic to your site why not?
